What have you learnd so far:
A couple of months have gone by since this class had started and I feel that I have learned a lot in a few months.
The things that I have learned is all the different medical terms and what they mean and how to put the words together, where all the different places that animal people can work at aquariums, zoo’s, wildlife park’s, animal shelters, hospitals, animal stores, and pet stores. Also how the vet techs responsibility is like come to work ready and have a positive attitude when going to work and they should have good hygiene. What I also learned in class is the employability check ins is where we grade our selves to see if we come prepared, have a positive attitude, come in our full scrubs with watch, and team cooperation. I learned all the names of the animals that are in our classroom and the different stories about the dogs, and the new names of the two female rats Harvi, and Bindi the types of these rats are black hooded rat, and a dumbo rat. I also learned how to deep clean a cage and properly feed the animals and give them varieties of frit and vegetables so they could try different things. What I learned is you need to give them different things to do like new toys, other things to play with and make things challenging for them so the can stay entertained and not get bored to easily.
Recently I learned how to milk a goat and the different types of goats. And I’m learning the safety unit and what the animal’s defenses are like horse, dogs, cats, large birds and reptiles and the number of reported injures the number one is from horses because if you don’t know what you are doing you can get hurt and the second one is common is from dogs and cats.

Question: How can clicker training fit into the Veterinary field? How can you, personally use it?
When I watched the Karen Pryor movie about the cliker traning method I was thinking of the many possible ways I could use this method on my animals.I can train my dogs by not to bark at every thing they see and hear, staying out of the kitchen when dinner is being cooked and not to begg when we have food. I tried relating this method to the veterinary field. So as hope to be vet-tech I tried to think as a vet. This method could be helpful by helping the animals to ease their stress, and to help make them more comfortable in the exam room when the dog or cat is being examed or being groomed or just a regular check up. Or when being in the wating room with other animals that they don't know. And make it easier on the person to help control their pet when a visit to the vet's office or going on a walk.

Class Progress
How I think I have been doing. I think that I have been doing really well so far. I have been working hard, paying attention to the teacher to what she has to say and listing to the lead tech when she tells me that I have to do something and following directions. Also learning and watching the demonstrations that the teacher does with the animals. I really like more of the hands on activities that we do with the animals, because I think that I could learn more and better doing the hands on activities. One of the best things that I like about this class is being with the animals and watching what they do. I really like this class and enjoy it.
What I need to work on is being able to not get distracted when I sit for long periods of time. I need to take better notes when we have lectures, videos and doing book work. Also I need to work on is to be able to ask a question without being shy about it or talking to the other students.
One thing that I remember is helping somebody was explaining to them when they did not understand what was said. I also help my table mates by doing the cleaning when they need help. Other people have been helping me when I forget how to do something and they remind me how to do it and correct me on my mistakes.
I have excelled in many things while in this class. I have learned how to give kittens a bath, look for fleas or flea dirt, how to give kittens nail trimmings. I also learned about birds and how they forage for their food, birds need to be interacted with so they can be easy to have and also that bird’s feather pluck themselves. I learned how to clean a cage properly. Also the certain or correct amount of food that you should feed your pet and give them clean water and food everyday and learn how to take medical records.
I have also learned many medical terms and which ones are combining, suffixes, and prefixes. How to picture the word and remember the autonym's for the terms. The important one would be the professional look of a vet tech and attitudes. This class is helping me to learn things that I have never known before.

Journal
During the past two weeks there have been three kittens in our classroom. Since they have been in our classroom the class and Ihave been observing their growth, changes, and non changes that have been happing to the three kittens. The names and appearances of these kittens. There are two boys and one girl. Leo is a male orange kitten, Sparky is a black and white male kitten. Sissy is a female white kitten withe a light orange tail. I have been observing over the past two week span of Leo, Sparky and Sissy.
What I have been noticing is the cats like to run, jump and play together all the time. The cats like to go and explore new things and places that they have never seen or been into before. When they see new things they are hesitant around the object until they get used to it and are comfortable aroung the object or place. They also like to get the attention from the students, they like to be touched and played with by the students. The kittens also like to play with things that role around and move like pincles and pens. Leo, Sparky and Sissy like to climb on things like their cage, students backpacks and the students legs to. Another thing that I noticed is when the kittens are tierd or hungery/thirsty they start to meow to let us know what they want.
I have not noticed any changes or physical changes to the kittens. The non-changes that I have witnessed is their growth color changes and their activeness in playing together.
